Successfully planting 1,000,000,000...It's true. Successfully planting 1,000,000,000,000 trees is ultimately going to involve the reclamation of a lot of arable land. And it is also true that not every tree planted will survive. On the other hand, many of the trees which do survive will then spawn more trees. <br /><br />Most importantly, this is something that each and every person can actively participate in right now, with little or no financial outlay, which will actually help. On a 20x20 spacing, it'll take about 1 1/2 acres per person. Or we can have a few people do the planting in less inhabited places.
